No Creepiness On My Front Porch!

Hey, everyone!  I cannot believe how long it has taken me to get my front porch the way I want it -- or maybe it still isn't there yet, and I will need to do more tweaking!  Yikes, how hard can it be?  Well, it's easier if you wait until the weather cools down a bit, which I did not do; so it was slow-going at first.  The other issue is the shape of our entry porch -- almost tunnel-like but with that small alcove area.  Anyway, it took some doing, but I'm pretty happy with the way it looks now.  Let's take a look-see, shall we?
I love taking pictures at dusk!

My wreath is experiencing it's 4th Fall this year (it's twin is also lurking around here, & I'll show you later).  I've changed it up every year just to breath new life into it.

The two wreaths were originally purchased (JoAnn's, I believe) to go on the garden shed doors in our backyard at our previous home.

Our first year in our new home here -- my first experience with high ceilings and very tall doors.  I tried to "beef up" my little wreath with some ribbon and pinecones.

Last year was "deco mesh" which really helped give the wreath some "oomph."

This year I added a big letter "S,"some feathers and.......

A "Welcome" sign that I bought at HL last year.  I'm pretty pleased with how it looks!

This little alcove is always fun to decorate, but not always easy.

I can see from this pic that my poor little wicker chair is in need of new paint.  I truly think that paint is the only thing holding this poor thing together!

This window is in my craft-sewing room, and I always like to have something fun to see from inside and outside.  Abby also thinks the dangling pumpkins and ghosts are great fun!

I love decorating this bench that The Man made for me.

The "twin" to my front door wreath is wrapped with orange lights and just leaning against this long pillow I made for the bench.  My little scarecrow girl is kind of showing her age (as am I), but she is still sweet (as am I MOST of the time)......lol!

I tried lots of different looks for my tool caddy and finally settled on just a pile of pumpkins, gourds, pinecones, berries and a votive in a blue Ball jar.

I printed a chalkboard "freebie," slapped it in a frame and hung it from the porch light.

Have to do faux flowers here, next to the front door, because real ones would not get enough light.  I added some washi tape to a very old faux pumpkin.

This little wooden stake is probably fifteen years old but looks pretty happy residing over the large pot of mums and alyssum.

My sweet potato vines survived the summer heat but are reveling in the cooler temps.

I cannot get enough mums -- love them!

See, there weren't any scary or creepy things on my front porch!  Oh, and if you are in my neighborhood on Halloween, please stop by.......we always have plenty of treats
for everyone!

  3. Wow! There's so much to love here...your wreath is beautiful and I love the welcome sign hanging from it. Love your alcove area. My porch is tiny and I wish I had more space to decorate like that. :) I bet Abby does like the dangling ghosts and pumpkins. LOL! Your mums look great! I almost bought some at Lowes yesterday, but I think I'll just do pansies for the winter. I seem to have better luck with pansies most years. Great job!

  4. I love your porch, and I think it looks very inviting--perfect for Halloween! We only have a small overhang above the front door, so there's not much room for decorating, but the kids had fun putting fake spiderwebs on the bushes. Dee :)

  5. Really like how your entry came out, that would be a bit difficult to do since it is so long, but it looks great.........
I am with you, I don't like creepy Halloween stuff either..........I just like Fall things with some added cuteness...........that works for me..................lol
Reminds me that I forgot to get Mums today, we went to Home Depot to get something else and I saw them
on the way in..........and was gonna go to the garden area and completely forgot...........I need a lil dry erase
board to put around my neck............so I will remember things..........lol

Hope all is well with you, at least it looks like it is................
    Happy Fall my Friend,
    Blessings, Nellie

  8. Love the look! I prefer a "harvesty" Halloween, too, instead of a creepy one. How clever to hang a sign from your porch light!

  9. It all looks so pretty! Would you believe I still haven't put those wreaths out? I even wrote myself a note last week. It got buried in the bottom of my purse & I found it today.

  19. LOVE LOVE LOVE your patio with the wreaths on the garden shed. That shed looks like something you'd see in France! So pretty!!!!

Your front entry is fun. LOVE it! I only have an orange ornament wreath on our door because our summer pots (with white impatiens) still look so great! I didn't even put out mums this year.

  21. Carol, you have a great entry space, I am positively pea green! I have a teeny tiny stoop and there is very, very little room to decorate. I love how you reuse items and restyle them! You have done a wonderful job, especially since I am not into creepy! ;) Happy October! Kim @ Exquisitely Unremarkable
