I've Been Fallin' Around!

Hey everyone!  I hope you are all having a great start to your week.  I had a "super-surge" of energy between Saturday morning and Sunday noon (then I crashed!), and pretty much finished up my Fall decorating and some cleaning projects, too!  Before I finished "fallin' up" my kitchen and family room, I cleaned, re-sealed & polished the granite and cleaned my refrigerator from top to bottom & inside & out...I was on a roll!  It's not feeling very Fall outside this week, with temps in the 90's, but the air is on and there is plenty of Fall color to see inside.  Come on in!

You all know this is one of my favorite places to decorate for the seasons,

and I love having my cute aprons so handy!

I love this island, but it is such a "junk magnet!"  Getting it all cleaned, polished and looking so pretty, will keep it junk-free for awhile....I hope!

The colors of Fall make me smile.

No chocolate-chip or oatmeal raisin cookies in this cute cookie jar, but it is filled with

biscotti-goodness!

These are from Costco and are so good, but I limit myself to no more than

one-a-week....lots of calories!

Nothing much has changed on top of the cabinets...I'm not allowed on the "BIG" ladder any more!

Home Goods store that is only 15 minutes away....uh oh!

I'm still crushing on this gallery wall of our travel photos.  Do you see Abby?  Just pretend you cannot see her, because she thinks she's invisible when she faces the wall...shhh, don't tell!

I adore this little plate (HobLob a couple of years ago).  It reminds me of heading to the pumpkin patch with my children when they were just a wee lad and lass!

Fall is in the Air

Happy new week everyone!  Well, if you get up early enough, the temps are in the 70's, and most daytime temps are below 100....so, woohoo, Fall is in the air!  Okay, maybe it's not quite here, but it's getting close!

What is it about Fall that causes so many of us to declare it to be our favorite season?  For many of us, depending on what part of the country we live in, it is a wonderful change in weather.  For others it may be a much-needed excuse to bring out some warmer colors and add that cozy-factor to our decor.

Whatever reason we each may have, it's hard to find fault with the sweet smell of a Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte candle, or gingerbread baking in the oven or some delicious soup cooking in the crockpot.

All these things seem to beckon us home.  There is a quietness to Fall, a serenity as we dig out our most comfy stretchies or pjs to cuddle up in on the sofa.  It's football season, you know!

The craziness of Christmas is still a ways away, unless you spend too much time in your favorite craft stores!  Still, you have plenty of time, right?

Fall is the time to switch from all those "iced" drinks to mugs of warmth.  I think Starbucks has already started serving up yummy Pumpkin beverages!

Fall, with its clear crisp air, beautifully colored leaves, and the laughter of children playing outside, truly gives us pause to reflect on our blessings and be thankful.  I know we should be thankful all the time and most of us are.  But Fall seems to wrap us in its warmth and makes us even more grateful and thankful for all of life's many blessings.

Oh Yes I Did!

I'm back after a bit of a hiatus, and I hope this is going to be a wonderful week for all of you and for me!  I tend to move at a much slower pace these days, but September always spurs my desire to spread some "Fall" around our home....even with outside temps still hovering around the century mark.  Yes, I'm crazy like that!  I will truly admit that Fall is my favorite season, and that usually means tons of seasonal decor from one end of our home to the other.  This year I'm trying to be much more selective....shhh, more neutral in my choices.  That doesn't mean you won't be seeing the rich colors of Fall, but just a bit more tamed.  Well, I guess I'll let you be the judge of whether I accomplished that or not.  So, today, I thought I'd share our dining room.  I hope you enjoy!

We seldom use our dining room, but I love that it's one of those areas in our home that always looks nice.  It is just about the first thing you see when you enter our home.  It is also the special place for displaying some family treasures.

The china cabinet may be dark and dated, but it's big and holds a ton of china.

I bought the Fall leaves a year or so ago and was so excited about finding the perfect 

spot to display them.

I love the colors!

I often stop in this exact spot to simply enjoy how this looks.

The mate to this lantern is on the living room side.

Home to our mini-bar and lots of glassware!

Okay, that's a wrap for the dining room....at least for now!  I will be sharing the living room and foyer in the near future, followed by the kitchen and family room.  Hope you enjoyed!
