An Attitude Adjustment

Hey everyone.  Hope ya'll are having a great weekend.  As you know, if you looked at my post from yesterday, I'm in a rather reflective mood lately.  Also, most of you know that we have our house for sale & have started the process of purchasing another one in our new destination.  I'm here to tell ya', if you haven't had your house on the market in a awhile, the process is not for sissies!  I have found myself being almost constantly on edge & expecting the phone to ring at any moment with a realtor who wants to show the house in 15 minutes.  Well, that hasn't happened yet.  We always have at least a few hours or even a day.  Still, that is how I've been greeting each day -- hurry, get things spiffed up, & then don't do anything that might make a mess.  Yikes, that's ridiculous!

I had an epiphany last night & decided to change a few things.  Well, mainly my attitude is what's going to change.  Yes, I will continue to follow my daily routine to get our house presentable, but I'm going to start doing the things that I love to do -- sewing, crafting, baking, scrapbooking, etc. -- and if someone comes to look at the house without enough warning, they will just have to see that this is a home where people LIVE!  How's that for an attitude adjustment?  I have truly been driving myself a bit wacky, so I'm thinking this is a much better plan & a much healthier attitude on my part.  If anyone else is going through a similar situation, I would love to hear how you handled it.

I'm hoping my attitude adjustment will bode well for my bloggy family because there will be new things to share.  I feel like lately, I've just been doing minor tweaks here & there & sharing them as new.  Is that lame or what?  Sooo...today I'm making a list of the projects that I've had on HOLD & decide where I want to start.  Oh, but first I have to vacuum, take out the trash & dust a bit.  LOL!!!

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you come again soon.

  1. I love the attitude adjustment idea! I personally think that as long as a house is clean and picked up, it's okay to actually have things like sewing or crafting out. After all, you *live* there. :-)

  2. I have never ever seen a thing wrong with your attitude. And I bet anyone can eat off your floors any time they please. You just need to chill, and not stress over it. Oh, that was easy for me to say, because I am not having to go through what your going thru.

  3. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog earlier. This post made me smile...we just had to sell our home a few months back. That keeping everything perfect is nerve racking! Good luck with selling!

  4. Having a house for sale is definitely stressful. Good for you to continue to live through the process. Hugs, Marty

  5. Good for you! I remember trying to sell our old house during Christmas when my kids were small. I remember my DH calling me while I was out Christmas shopping and he was home with our kids and their friends since all were out of school for the holidays. The house was a wreck, with kids toys everywhere, and someone was coming to see it. He was panicked and I told him if they couldn't get over the fact that we are living in this home then perhaps they should'nt live in our home either. LOL! Needless to say, I think they are the ones that bought our house! If you are keeping it clean and decluttered for the most part, I don't see how a little project in the works would be distracting. Good luck with the sale!

  6. I definitely agree with this! I've seen those shows on TV where people actually get paid to "stage" houses and I think it's ridiculous the things they make the owners do. They pretty much have to strip their own taste and personality from the house. I've even seen them make people get rid of their pets. I like your way better.

  7. Cas, it has been a long time since I was on my last home hunt, but I remember enjoying the most, the homes where there were a few kids toys in the living room floor, or the smell of things that had been baking, where it looked like people really lived there. So I agree with you, relax a little, and the people who look at your home will see more than just a "house". As far as "attitude" I think you have a great one, you're a gem!
