Hot Outside, Fall Inside! Part 1

Hey everyone!  I hope ya'll are having a wonderful & safe Labor Day.  We are going over to our son's home to celebrate the day and 5 birthdays -- yep, we get swamped between early August & early September, but it's all fun!  Before we leave, I wanted to share some of what I've been doing in between working on some "home renovation" projects.

As you know, our Arizona desert does not get a Fall season so we have to fake it.  By the end of August, I am "stick a fork in me & call me done" with the heat (even if it isn't done with me yet) & have to begin my "fake" Fall.  I gathered all my Fall through Thanksgiving storage boxes into our guest room for easy access and have been playing with my treasures for the last few days, when I had a few minutes to spare.  All the Halloween and Thanksgiving things are sorted and staged into some nice boxes in one end of the guest room closet, and will be brought out later.  For now, I only want my "Fall" things.

Since there was no construction of any kind going on in the foyer, sitting room or dining room, I decided to start there.  I'm taking pity on you & doing this in 2 posts, because "picture overload" would be putting it mildly!  Are you ready for a little tour?  Then let's get started.

The foyer

The Dining Room

The Man finally got tired of me whining about the chandy light being too bright &
installed a dimmer -- so much better!

I've actually changed out these green candles for some battery-operated chunky vanilla candles which look much better.

I just couldn't put away my "greens" and I really love them with all the other colors of Fall!

It's hard to tell in this photo, but this pumpkin is a copper-colored mercury glass that has battery powered lights inside.  It really adds to the ambience.

Here you can see the color better with the lights off.

I love the colors in this plate!

I simply added some Fall leaves to my dried hydrangea arrangement plus a leaf & berry garland
and called it good.

This little buffet used to be in our breakfast room, but now it has a new home here
in the dining room.  I'm loving it here under this window.

I just grabbed an assortment of this and that to fill my cloche.

One last look at our dining room.

I do hope you enjoyed the tour.  I'll be back in a day or two with Part 2, so please check
back & see what has "Fallen" in the sitting room!

We still have miserably hot weather here, with promises from the weather man that it would cool down this week end. I can't wait!
