Some "Falling" in Our Dining Room!

Hey everyone!  Isn't it fun watching "Fall" pop up all over Blogland?  I've been enjoying my own "Fall" decor for a week now, and I don't think I've ever smiled so much.  Well, you have to understand how HOT it is here -- I'm talking 108 to 110 degrees!  Yes, it is the first week of September, but Arizona marches to its own climate drummer!  I've always had a great imagination, so the air remains cranked down, and I live in my little imaginary "Fall" fantasy world.  It's quite a "happy place," and I'm eager to share it with y'all!  It's time to invite you into my dining room.  Well, what are you waiting for?  Come on in!

I wanted to keep the decor in here and in the sitting room a bit on the softer hued and
"less is more" side.

I drew on more of the golds, greens and paler oranges.

I kept my drop cloth tablecloth in place & added a burlap runner that I just tied with twine.

I filled my old wooden bowl with lots of faux acorns and glitzy gourds.  I did some layering with leaf-shaped placemats, small metal tealite holders, large hurricanes with faux candles, hurricanes with some book page rolls & leaves, & this wooden plaque that I glammed up with some
Old Gold Rub n' Buff.

I also had a couple of berry swags that I added on either side of the bowl.

See the plates on the wall next to the china cabinet?  Those are some more of The Man's aunt's
wonderful collection.
This was the perfect place to display four more of Aunt Flora's hand-painted china.  You can see more of her talent HERE in the guest bedroom.

I still love my  sweet MIL's china displayed in my china cabinet, so I needed to keep the rest of the decor simple.  You can read about the china HERE

The three cream-colored, ceramic pumpkins are my only new purchases this season.

Anything under a cloche, right?  I'm loving this burnished golden gourd under the big cloche.

I played around with the top of the china cabinet quite a bit before I decided on this display.  I hung the over-size charger on the wall right in the middle.  I collected all of the golden, greenish hydrangeas that I had and added to a basket.

I dressed up my large lanterns with ribbon and foliage swags & added faux candles.

I saw some really cute burlap pumpkins made by Linda @ White Weathered Hutch, and knew I wanted to make some; except I wanted to make mine out of drop cloth fabric.

I made four all about the same size, so I just used some candle holders to add some height to a
couple of the pumpkins.

Right behind the pumpkins (kind of hard to see), I added hurricanes with pumpkins & some brown pompom foliage thingies that I had -- just for some added height.

I used a simple leaf and berry swag to add some color & texture to the chandy.

Kept the white buffet very simple.

Love my large white rooster perched on a milk glass cake stand.  His little "Welcome" sign
pretty much sums it up for me!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my Fall dining room.  You are always welcome to stop by anytime.

  12. Looks fantastic Carol! I especially love your bowl with the faux acorns and gourds. I am always in awe of acorns as I don't have any trees here that produce them!

  13. Love how you've got yourself into Fall, despite the thermometer. Great touches throughout your home.

Wonderful to have you at Seasonal Sundays. When you have a chance, please edit your list of parties. You've got yourself listed as joining Oh, the PLACES I've been (which is my Friday party about places) when you actually and correctly linked to Seasonal Sundays. No biggie, but I know we all tend to copy and paste these things so might as well get it straightened out.

Hope to see you next week.

  18. Well, whatever the temperatures outside, Carol, your home looks beautifully Fall-like! Love the white ceramic pumpkins. They always catch my eye when I'm out shopping. I don't always buy them because I have limited surfaces now, but I do like to look at them. I haven't started inside Fall decorating just yet, but I'm sure over the next couple of weeks I will give in!

Thanks for linking up to The Creative Home & Garden hop! :)

  34. Carol, it is just beautiful, but sooo cozy. I love cozy in the fall/winter months, so I have drug a ton of "things" out since I have been able to move. I love the lantern, and the faux candle. I have never bought one of those candles, but I will be on the look out. Hate that about your temps. Our friend is gone from Arizona now, so we have ot kept up with the Arizona weather much.
