A Family Christmas!

Hey everyone!  Okay, we are not talking "Clark Griswald's Family Christmas" here, but I did want to share one of my favorite and most precious (to me) Christmas trees in our home.  Today it's all about the "Family Memories Christmas Tree!"  You did get a glimpse of it HERE when I did a tour of our sitting-dining room area, but I thought you might like a little bit more detail.  You do, don't you?  Well, here it is!

TA-DA!
This entry table (aka: the old Singer sewing machine) is one of my most favorite places to decorate -- special times or simple, ordinary days -- and the perfect location for this special tree!

This was my first family tree that I did in the early Fall.  You can read more about it HERE.

I knew I wanted to do a Christmas version of my Family Tree and was so happy when this vision popped into my head in the middle of the night.  I seem to get my best ideas when most people are sleeping soundly.....lol!

I get to see this beauty like a gazillion times a day as I pad back and forth down this hallway.

I kept all the photos from the Fall tree and added my photo blocks.

Here is a close-up of the photo blocks displayed in the kitchen of our previous home.  I made these before I started blogging, so there is no step-by-step tutorial.  They were very simple, though.  The Man cut the blocks for me which I then painted red and green.  I made black and white copies of lots of photos and used mod podge to adhere them to the wooden blocks.  I then attached an eye hook and used a black and white narrow ribbon to hang them.  I made complete sets for both of our children and one for us, of course.  They have been a staple of my Christmas decor ever since.

This tree is a small 4' pre-lit one that I had used outside last year.

Had to add in some snowflakes, but didn't want much else to detract from the photos.

Added in a few of these little chalkboards with Christmas-related words.

My daughter and her family.

My son and his family........

Plus one more!

#1 Grandson -- ONLY grandson with 5 Granddaughters!

This is truly how I feel every time I pass by The Family Memories Tree!  I'm holding strong to all these wonderful memories as I watch with a bit of sadness to see our precious "Grands" growing up right before my eyes.  Our baby will be three in just a few short weeks -- how did that happen?  I know we will continue to make memories no matter how old we all get, but still......sniff, sniff!

Hope you enjoyed being here today, because I really enjoyed having you.  Come back any time!

  5. Carol, your family is so blessed to have someone who cares as much as you do! Great ideas, but it is the sentimental part that I love the most. Are ya'll still having cool weather? We are having a heatwave at 50 degrees today! I am not complaining tho, I have a few things that I need to get done outside. Have a great week.

  8. This is a super cute idea! I may have to "borrow" it later on down the road. I like to display our yearly family Christmas pictures in our entryway. Right now they are in frames and I was just wondering how in the world I will be able to display them 30 years down the road. This gives me ideas...
    Thanks so much for sharing!!
