I'm Back....Well, Almost!

Hey everyone!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth, but have been on a Christmas vacation.  The Man and I left here on December 17th and just returned yesterday.  We drove 5000 miles, total, crossing this great country of ours.  Our destination was VA, to see our son, dil and our precious and youngest grandchildren; but we did the "tourist-thing" all the way there and back.  It was so much fun, even when we got stranded in Abilene, TX because of an ice storm.  I have lots of things to share, but first I have to do mountains of laundry, put away Christmas decor, and edit a ton of photos.......might have to throw in a couple of naps, too.....HA!

I am so far behind in email and reading posts from all of you, there is no way I can possibly catch up.  Suffice it to say, I will be moving forward from this point on and hope no one gets their feelings hurt if I missed some of your posts.

I would like to share one thing with you today (before I get to that laundry) is my "One Word for 2015."  I thought long and hard over the last couple of weeks about what that word would be, and I have chosen MINDFUL.  As is typical for many of us, I spend so much time thinking, fussing, & re-hashing the past and an equal amount of time projecting myself into future plans, what if's and concerns over what will happen tomorrow, next week, next month or next year.  All of that "stuff" really gets in my way and keeps me from enjoying right now; so I'm going to work on being mindful of the present moment.

Mindful is  "the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one's attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment ...".

Here's to a happy day!

  1. It sounds like you had a great trip, Carol. You were on my mind over the holidays because we were in Phoenix for a few days. We rented a house in Glendale and visited the zoo and IKEA while we were there. I hope you have a happy new year and that settling back in at home goes smoothly after your time away.

  2. So glad you're back! Can't wait to see pics from your trip! I'm trying to be more mindful too and live in the moment. It's hard though! :) Oh, I also wanted to let you know that the last couple of times you commented on my posts, you showed up as a no-reply. Just thought I'd let you know. :) I know I was switched over to no-reply once and didn't know it until someone told me. Happy New Year!

I have really struggled with committing to a word for this year, so I'm just waiting... Enjoy your laundry time, I did 6 loads yesterday, where does it all come from?? Blessings, Cindy

  9. I bet this was a fun trip...my hubby and I like to do the driving when we have a plan. We loved our trip from D.C. to Asheville last May. I hope we get to hear about yours!

I love your word. Sometimes I think I really need some instructions or advice on how to live in the moment. I miss so many of the good things in life because I'm trying to do ten things at once. There are so many times in my life I wish I could "do over" and really appreciate what was going on. Do you ever feel that way?

Best wishes on getting caught up at home!
