A Pantry Update

Hey everyone!  I hope y'all are having a great start to your Summer, and having some good weather, too.  We officially had our first-of-the-season monsoon storm yesterday.  We didn't get any rain here in our area, but we got a huge & very windy dust storm -- FYI, not all AZ monsoons have rain.  This time of year, here in the desert, does get more humid.  Even though it is still less than 50%, when you add temps of 110*+, that is dang hot!  Oh well, we adapt and some of us (ME) hunker down inside!  As some of you know, I've been busy working on our "Rhine River Cruise & Motor Coach Tour" album and it's almost finished.  YAY!  I have also been puttering around, making a few changes here and there, and will share some pics soon.

Today, I wanted to share another organization project -- the pantry this time.  Not too long after we moved into this home, I shared an over-haul on my very "builder-basic" pantry.  You can check that out HERE.  I'm happy to report that most of the systems I set up back then are still working, but a bit of a mess was brewing that needed tending.  I made these changes in March but didn't have time  to share.  Better late than never, right?  Well, come on in to my dinka-dinka-dinkie pantry and see for yourself.

The outside has already changed from this to a summer look, but that's for another post!

The BEFORE

It really wasn't that bad, but it was starting to feel cluttered, & we were buying duplicates when
we didn't need to do so.

The AFTER
I really like having small things containerized, so I added more baskets, bins, & boxes.

It's easy for this area to get messy, but it's also quick & easy to whip it back into shape.

I still really like the canned food tiers that I made using 2X4's.  I've used that same method on some other shelves, too.  Command hooks hold extra aprons & my kitchen broom-dustpan on the side.

We don't buy many potatoes, so the little basket on the lower left is big enough.  The basket next to it holds onions.  I read somewhere on Pinterest that storing your onions in brown lunch sacks with holes punched all over, made the onions last longer.....NOPE, that did not work!  It just kept me wondering for a couple of days, where the foul smell was coming from....super stinky!  I have now set the onions FREE and only buy a couple at a time.

I like having my teas all contained in the little wooden box.  My bulk Keurig pods & sweetener are easy to grab & take to my coffee station for replenishing.

An IKEA plastic bag container & a command hook for our insulated bottle holders fit nicely on this side out of the way.

Yes, I'm one of those weird people who looks at my organized groceries and smiles.

As part of our weight-loss and healthier eating style, we've added more things like protein bars (blue bins), water enhancers, rice cakes & 100 calorie popcorn, and I like to have those items front and center -- easy to grab & easy to see what we might be getting low on.

All righty then, one more look at the tidy AFTER pantry.  I'm smiling, are you?

And here is a sneak-peek of one of my summer changes.....coming soon to a Blog near you!

Thanks for the visit!

  1. Well, I think your "before"pic was already pretty and organized! What kind of protein bars do y'all like? We've tried a couple different ones lately and didn't like them. I'm always looking for new ways to add more protein. Enjoy your week!

  7. I love how you organized your pantry! I hung my apron and Hubby's bbq apron in our pantry too, but I need to do something about our plastic bag problems. I love that cute pom pom wreath too. :)
