Had to Share!

First let me say, you guys are just awesome.  I'm so appreciative of the wonderful response I've received about my post earlier today.  It's made for a perfect St. Patrick's Day.

I have some other news to share, but hadn't wanted to say anything until things were a bit more certain.  We are in the process of buying a new home over in the Phoenix area!  I've been dying to tell all of you, but I was waiting to see if the sellers accepted our Counter #2 & just got word that they did.  I'm so excited!  To those who are wondering, we have not sold our current house yet, but we didn't want to wait on purchasing.  We will continue to live here until it does sell, but will be able to go & stay at the new place & move a few things over.

This new house is considerably larger than our current home, but not over-the-top huge & is still on one level.  The older we get, the bigger a priority that becomes.  It has a 3-car garage, so now The Man can have an official workspace.  The house also has 4 bedrooms, which mean a guest room, a "Playroom" for me,  & a "Man Cave." Oh, the 4th is the master & that's on the
opposite side of the house from the others.

I wish the seller's car hadn't been sitting in the driveway, but you get a pretty good visual.

The seller's bachelor son has been staying here, so there is no "decor" of any kind, inside or out.  But there is awesome potential just waiting for me with the ideas & The Man who operates the tools.  We looked at twelve properties & this was the last & the only one that won't require anything before we move in.  Now that doesn't mean we won't be doing some things, it just means it's in really, really good shape!

One of the things that really attracted us to this property is that it's in a Master-Planned Developement.  Several small community neighborhoods combine to create the larger entity.  There are tons of hiking/biking paths, parks/playgrounds, soccer fields, catch & release ponds, large swimming pools & kids' splash pools, & 2 of these large barn-like rec centers.  Most of the amenities will be for the benefit of our "grands" but we will enjoy them, too.

I hope ya'll understand that I will be taking you on this journey with me.  I'm planning to record everything with words & photos.   I'm also certain I will be asking advice all along the way.  I hope you won't mind that I'm dragging you along, but I can't imagine this trip without all of you.  Thanks for stopping by & please come again soon.

  2. Congrats, CAS! We are on the market but haven't gone looking at anything yet. We will wait until we get a signed contract on our house. I have been looking online just to get an idea of what's in our area - we are also looking for one floor living {but I'd like a full basement, too}. It looks really nice and well-kept. Of course, you have to put your personality into it! It will be exciting to see!

  7. So happy for you Cas, it will be so much fun watching what you create out of this new palace! And dragging me along will be fine. I lived in Tempe for several years back during my last marriage ( and worst) and loved the entire Phoenix area. I walked to the library, grocery store ( unless I was going to getting a lot of items), hair salon. Loved it all, esp. loved taking pictures at the pool in February and sending them home to Ohio when they were up to their whatsits in snow! A mean streak, huh? I especially loved living near to Erma Bombeck, now gone but never forgotten, I always wanted to write and tell her I followed her from Dayton, which wasn't true, but sounded good! So now I am following you back to Phoenix! But not physically, but mentally and emotionally will be fun. It really looks like a great home!

  10. I have no idea how I missed this post. I must have sniffed extra paint fumes this day lol. I love it. Love the idea of you having things to offer the grands, and the way you describe it, it sounds safe. Oh, I can't wait!
