Something New!

Hey, everyone!  I hope ya'll are having a nice start to this wonderful New Year!  Part of my reflecting process on New Year's Day, was the decision to open a new blog.  This blog, which I am calling My Daily Journal, is just that.  I felt I needed a place to respond and react to "life."  This is where I will reflect on each day, make my crazy lists, vent my frustrations, rave about my joys, & just be totally myself.  There won't be many pictures (unless they are completely in sync with what I'm writing about), & I won't be talking about decor or paint (unless I'm adding a prompt to one of my crazy lists....lol!).  If you want to follow along, make comments, do your own venting or share how you deal with every day chaos and events, I welcome you with open arms.  If you are not interested, I'm totally fine with that, too.  Selfishly, this is truly for my own benefit;  but if it some how benefits some one else, that would bring joy to my heart.

I fully intend to continue to post here in An Oasis in the Desert, just not quite as much.  I've been blogging for a little over a year and find it to be both a blessing and a curse.  The blessing, of course, is all of you who are always so supportive & kind.  I feel so truly close to many of you, like you are a great friend living right next door.  The curse of blogging is that for me, it has become so addicting & just sucks the life out of my day.  I find myself being torn between working on a project or blogging.  Sometimes, I find that most things I do are being done for the soul purpose of blogging about it.  I'm not saying any of these are wrong for anyone else, but they are causing me frustration.  Soooo......I'm backing off a little.  I'm planning to post only once or twice a week when I have something to share.  I will try to comment on your blogs as often as I can, but don't worry if you haven't heard from me in awhile;  I'll eventually catch up.

Ya'll are some of the nicest, most sharing & caring people I've ever "known," and I hope our friendships continue.  I'm wishing you all good blessings and wonderful "dreams come true," in 2012!
xoxo, CAS

  1. I can so relate to this. I have resolved to deal with my life and home and I how I live each day. And I will blog about that instead of doing things just for a blog post. That just takes to much time and other things get set aside. I hope you and your family have a fantastic new year!

  2. I can relate to that too. My posts are few & far between. Unless I find something of interest. I like the idea of blogging everyday rather than photos or tutoring, etc., etc.

  3. I think we can all relate. There are times when we all need to take a step back. Happy New Year to you!

  4. Cas, it seems you have found a solution to the problem most bloggers face at one time or another. I'm not there yet but I know blogging can be addictive and time consuming. Good luck with the new blog. I look forward to reading what you have to say. Come by to visit me when you can. --------- Shannon

  7. I say just what ever works for you! I know exactly how you feel, and I will be following you on your new blog. I saw a while back that blogging everyday about a project was just not for me. Home life comes first! Blogging can be very addictive and time consuming, and for a long time, I didn't blog very much. I have however blogged thru the holidays and enjoyed it very, very much, but now it will be back to reality.
Anyhoo, you have family close by now to keep you busy. Go and enjoy, and do what Grandma's are suppose to do, have fun! I am going over to follow your new blog.

  8. Of course I can relate to this Cas. I have been pulling back too. In fact, I really do not have any projects in mind. I will take it as they come and if I post great, if not, no worries either way. This is my hobby and I must keep on enjoying it. Happy New year to you!

  9. Thanks for your honesty, Cas, and for stopping by Cottage and Creek. I've been struggling with this too, like so many others. I like to write and I like to create pretty things, but lately, I'm really questioning why I'm spending so much time on blogging when I should be listing things in my etsy shops or starting my first novel - something I really want to do. So I appreciate your candor and encouragement. Happy New Year to you and good luck on your new blog.

  11. I think that's a fabulous idea Carol and I wouldn't be surprised if others (myself included) follow suit. We all need a place to reflect, react and vent. Happy New Year!
