Changing the Mood

Hey everyone!  I hope your week is off to a great start, & that you are managing to stay cool, safe from fires, storms, & extreme excess heat.  A tall order, I know, but we all just have to look for the positives, right?  As we head into this 4th of July week, I know many of you have been lightening and brightening your homes for the summer.  Well, me too!  So I thought it would be fun to share a couple of glimpses of how I've changed the mood of our sitting-dining room over a couple of seasons.  These are very simple changes, no painting or major endeavors involved...lol!

First up -- one (wink, wink) of my Fall moods.
I almost always change pillow covers for the season.

And of course, shelves & vignettes get a few tweaks.  Actually, this little pine rocker
has been relocated to........

The master bedroom, & I added an extra floor lamp that we had.  I like it here, but I digress.

Up next -- Christmas!
Again, different pillow covers.  I'm planning a post about pillows coming up soon.  I make most
of my pillows & rarely buy any.

And this is the current "lightened up" mood for summer.  If you notice, I also turned the leather chair &
ottoman toward the sofa for better conversation & coziness.  In place of the pine rocker, I added the small glider-rocker that use to be my favorite blogging spot in the sunroom of our previous home.  It works perfectly here.

I'm still using a lot of my "go-to" linen-look fabric & various shades of green are a "must" for me.

As you can see, I've been having fun using wonderful graphics from The Graphics Fairy.

This is such a great spot to sit back and read while sipping a little somethin'.

A few weeks ago when I shared all of our photos of Spain, I said I would be putting together
a photo album, too.  Well, this is it.

It was an old ugly, blue album that I've had for some time, & I just made a new cover for it.  I labeled
it "Our Travels," & it includes special trips that The Man & I have taken, just the two of us.

I love to change the dining room table centerpiece.

Again, lightening the mood with creamy white flowers in my crystal vase, hurricanes with green styro-pellets & candles, & a patchwork linen tablerunner.

As you can see, I'm using a lot of green on the shelves of
my china cabinet

Here we are in the entry area.  If you missed my post about the ruffled table skirt,
you can see it HERE.

I haven't changed the vignette very much, except to hang the cute little framed
chalkboard tag from the cloche.

Also, if you missed my post about this wreath, you can see it HERE.

I just love night-time photos, don't you?

All of our lamps & most of our light fixtures are fitted with the energy-efficient light bulbs, so I don't
mind turning on lamps throughout our home.

I love the way the lights create shadows.  The light way up on the display shelf to the left,
is a battery-operated candle on a timer.  I have 4 of those (for now.....lol) in areas that require
ladder-access.  I have them set to come on automatically at 5pm & shut off at 10pm.  You can see that
I need another one at the very end of this hallway on the upper display shelf -- too dark up there.

This itty bitty lamp originally had a rusty-red shade, which I love; but for spring and summer, I found this one with script on it.  The shade was a bit short, so I added a burlap ruffle.

And that brings us full-circle.  I love how easy it is to alter the "mood" of our homes
with just a few simple changes.  So, what do you think?  Would you enjoy sitting here
sipping a little somethin'?  As always, the "Welcome" mat is always out.

Thanks so much for stopping by, & please come again soon.
