Hey everyone! Well, I think I've finished tweakin' for awhile; oh wait, who am I kiddin'? Ya'll know me better than that, don't ya'? Well, I'll put it this way -- I've placed things where I think I want them to be in the sitting-dining room & would love to give you a tour. You may have already seen a few of the photos in other posts, but I wanted to include them here to complete the tour. Hope you don't mind.
I thought I'd start the tour at the front door and entry, so come on in. It's cool inside, & you don't even have to take your shoes off. Only the "Grands" are required to do that.....lol!
You've seen my foyer before, but I have tweaked here and there with more seasonal vignettes & decor. I won't elaborate on those right now, but plan on a post just about seasonal vignettes in another day or two. Yep, I know you're eager!
This is what you see as you enter our home -- the sitting room to the left and the dining room to the right. It isn't a huge space, but it is spacious enough -- has a very cozy and calming feel.
This is looking through the left-side archway.
......and looking through the same archway toward the hallway to the master bedroom wing of our home.
The bookshelves & sofa were in the sunroom in our previous home.
I love this view -- this setting speaks to who we are as a family. It is comfortable, casual & filled with things that we love and enjoy seeing around us all the time.
One of my favorite groupings.
The armoire in the corner used to house our entertainment system, but we didn't need it for that purpose in this home, so now it is our liquor-bar area. Now, don't get the wrong impression, we are NOT into nightly cocktails; but it's nice to have a place to store those items when you want them.
I'll do a separate post about this space at another time, because I really like the way it turned out!
Now this is a super-cozy & very comfy spot. It's a great place to read or blog.
This is the view from the family room door.
In the foyer, looking to the right. I know you've seen this one before when I shared the new chandy.
This dining room set is about 35 years old. It was the first "real" furniture we bought when we finally escaped the "young family with no money to spare" time of our lives.....LOL! It's solid pine, has many "bumps & bruises," but still makes me smile as I reminisce about all the special family meals that have been served on this table, & all the ones I look forward to serving now and in the future.
I did some tweakin' on top of the china hutch, but will share more details in another post.
I finally got my spoon rack hung up & all the spoons from our travels back in their little slots. My grandparents gave me the spoon rack way back when The Man & I were first married. It's also pine and goes beautifully with the dining room furniture.
Looking out through the archway.
Adding this little floor lamp here was The Man's suggestion, & I really like it!
I'm having so much fun playing around with different accessories in these archways.
......and we are back to the beginning.
Hope ya'll enjoyed the tour. My number one goal in arranging and decorating our home is to make it comfortable, relaxing, cozy & inviting to anyone who walks through our front door. We are very down-to-earth folks, who truly appreciate what we have in this life. I hope that's what ya'll feel when you look at my photos. Thanks so much for stopping by, & please come back soon.

ReplyDeleteHi Cass,
ReplyDeletethanks for the tour that was fun!
You have a lovely, cozy and warm feeling home. I am sure everyone feels very comfy there. Love those shutters........we used to have some years ago in our other home, they were a bit smaller but love the look.
Very nice tour, and you are doing a great job as you accessorize everything.
Blessings sweetie, Nellie
soo cozy...and as I enjoy your posts, I am constantly inspired by all your vignettes. Really gifted, and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting settled. I like your sitting area, very cozy looking.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks good! I love how the sitting room & dining room are together. If y'all are anything like us, everyone ALWAYS ends up in the eating area. I wish I had room for a sofa in mine.
ReplyDeleteWhat an inviting room. I really like your collection of spoons and I think your favorite wall arrangement is mine, too :).
