I can't believe that Christmas is closing in so quickly, can you? I continue to "tweak" here and there, but mainly I'm just ENJOYING our home, our family, and all the sights and sounds of the holidays. Today I thought I would share how I've added a bit of Christmas to our guest room and bath. These two rooms are highly visible, so I wanted them to look cheerful, even though we are not having any guests. I did not purchase anything new to decorate these spaces, simply used what I had. Would you like to join me in a little tour? Of course you would!
We did a bit of tweaking in this room several months ago, which I had never gotten around to sharing with you. Here is what I thought was the "finished" look. Well, we all know what happens when any of us get comfy thinking something is finished.....!
This is "post-tweak," and I really like it now, but just to remind you of what it looked like before......
Not bad, but I never did like the Expedit mounted on the wall between the beds.
We removed the Expedit & now use it in one side of the closet for gift wrapping supplies and extra linens. We also moved that large 3-drawer chest into the other side of the closet to hold a guest's suitcase, & brought in this smaller bedside table that we had in our garage storage.
The space between the beds was perfect for this quilted wallhanging that I made a few years ago. Now I will have to get busy and make a non-seasonal wallhanging for this space!
This little birdcage has been all over this house and has been used in so many different vignettes.
This is one of my favorites so far. I love the little red bird in the nest!
I used one of the little 4' trees that I had, and simply decorated this tree with some of the older, more "memory-filled" ornaments and some handmade ones. Of course, I had to add some sparkle by using deco mesh.
I love walking past this room at night and seeing this cute lit tree!
I keep this little California Mission here all the time, because it makes the perfect nitelight!
His and Hers bathrobes are at the ready!
Now across the hallway is the guest bath.
The tree I used in here is one of the grapevine cone trees that I used on my mantel for Fall.
I simply wrapped it with white lights, bright green deco mesh, & then silver tinsel and perched it on a ceramic flower pot.
I have several different shades of green going on in this room, but I like how they look together.
I used this little silver tray to corral the soap, hand cream, and a small candle.
I made the little tissue box cover about thirty years ago, but think it's still so sweet.
I have had these little tea towels for close to ten years. I've always made them work in
our guest baths. I have several this size and then hand towel size, too. The little plug-in
is from Bath & Body Works (last year) and makes this entire area of our home smell so good!
For this little window ledge, I took a couple of my little IKEA plants, wrapped them in burlap ribbon,
and then tied on a red ribbon.
I love a bit of greenery in every room.
These cuties are the main reasons I go crazy decorating. We'll be missing the two older "Grands" this year, but these four characters will be here, and I cannot wait! Oh, and if you are wondering why big brother has a grip on Little Miss, it's because she kept running off laughing before I could snap the picture. She thought that was really funny, so Parker was helping Nana! See, she's getting ready to bolt -- cute little mischief-maker!
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear friends! I truly love sharing our home and family with all of you. Please know you are always "welcome" here!
~Carol~
