Hey everyone! Hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas. We certainly did. When it's all about family, it cannot get any better. I'm not here today to share "Oh, look what I got," because I personally think that's kind of tacky -- just my opinion, but we keep the gift-giving part of our celebration very low-key. I do want to share some collaged photos of a special event The Man and I attended last weekend. The Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens presents "Las Noches de las Luminarias" each year, and this year was extra special with a beautiful exhibition of Dale Chihuly's handblown glass art. It was so incredible! My photos truly do not do justice to the beauty of the gardens, but I hope you will enjoy them anyway.
The dark sky you see in the background was providing sprinkles of rain throughout the evening!
There was live entertainment scattered throughout the garden, and the young man above could really make his violin sing, and he loved running around through the audience as he played!
All the beautiful specimens of cacti were really showing off their beauty, too!
This was really a special evening. The Man and I bundled up, strolled every path, and tried to soak up all the beauty that surrounded us.
Afterwards, we ended up here........
To warm up and get nourished! YUM!
Hope you enjoyed seeing the Phoenix Botanical Gardens dressed for the season. I loved sharing the experience with all of you!
LOVE In & Out!!
ReplyDeleteOh Carol...I LOVE Dale Chihuly!!! I first discovered him when we stayed at the Bellagio in Vegas. His flower sculpture on the lobby ceiling is incredibly beautiful. I have several prints of his art scattered around the house too. Such beautiful art! Looks like y'all had a great time. I'm so jealous you have an In-N-Out near you! I've had it before and it was really, really good! Personally, I'm a chocolate girl, but I had their vanilla milkshake once and boy, was it good. :)
ReplyDeleteThose pics are truly stunning! Glad you had a great evening and Christmas! Dee :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such an amazing exhibit! I noticed the luminarias in the garden; just tonight, my husband and I were wondering if people used them anywhere besides New Mexico. Our next door neighbor does them and they're everywhere around here, on the roofs of buildings, on driveways, etc. I had a feeling you would have them in Phoenix too. We don't have In-N-Out here though, lucky you! I've eaten there in California and it's so good.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! I bet that was a fun tour. I've never seen anything like that before.
ReplyDeleteOh the food! I agree, best times are always spent with the family. Wishing you more on 2014!
ReplyDeleteOh Carol, Dale Chihuly is one of my favorite artists. He and his team do awesome work. I enjoy looking at every picture. I saw his work, first, on a cruise ship and have loved him ever since. He did a similar exhibit in The Cheekwood Gardens in Nashville, Tn. My daughter lives in Nashville and we went to see his exhibit.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your tour of his work in the desert, it was interesting to see the work in that venue. You can see the Nashville exhibit here: http://savannahgranny.blogspot.com/2010/10/dale-chihuly-at-cheekwood.html
Have a Blessed and Simplified New Year, Ginger
We used to go to Scottsdale for Christmas and once got to see the Botanic Garden exhibit. I have seen a lot of Chihuly exhibits, but the lighted one in the garden is special. Thanks for sharing it with us!
