Not a Creature Was Stirring

Hey everyone!  Why oh why does December always seem to fly by way too fast?  My decorating is complete, my shopping is finished, cards are in the mail, packages are wrapped.....but still, I want more time to enjoy the smells and listen to my favorite Christmas carols.  Does anyone else feel this way?  Two areas of my home do bring me such a feeling of calm -- our sitting room and the dining room.  They are actually all one large space, but let's not "quibble."  I shared the sitting area in my last post, and would love to share the dining room now.  Remember, this is me doing a more simplified version of Christmas decorating.....seriously!

I layered a string of battery-powered cool lights under the faux snow, and it gives off such a sweet glow.  The little Putz houses are also illuminated.

Not having our big tree meant that I had lots of Christmas balls to add in here and there.

More reflections......mirrors add a magical touch!

Not too bad for being 10 years old!

Top of my china cabinet.

This nativity is 44 years old!  It's just not Christmas without it.

Just a sneak-peek at my kitchen decor!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Y'all are always welcome here!

  1. Carol, you can probably guess that I, for one, (maybe the only one in blogland), is a big fan of simple: less stuff is more than enough, clean lines and streamlined views are, for me, very pretty. Having said that, your simpler approach to festive decorating this year, coincides with my 'take' on things, (even those that don't have to do with decor!). Your Putz neighbourhood centerpiece shines; what I would give to take a winter stroll in such a magical, snowy place!

    Happy Monday!

  6. You're ahead of me. Most of my shopping is done but nothing is wrapped yet & cards aren't done. Eventually it'll get done.

  7. Wow, you are on a roll! I have only ordered one gift; and the cards are still in the boxes...lol! Guess I need to get busy! Your holiday decor is lovely, as always! Simplification seems to be the theme in blogland this year...and I love it!

  8. I have decided to simplify this year...my decor, my shopping, all in favor of more time spent enjoying the season. Of course, it's still managing to fly by!! Your home looks lovely and so very festive! I just love the way you have decorated, especially those tiny illuminated houses! Merry Christmas, Carol!

  9. Hi Carol, Happy to read that you enjoyed your month with friends, what a special treat! I love all of your little decorations! You are very good at keeping them neat and clean for so many years. I guess it's that beautiful closet you have for storage :) Simplicity is a good word for this year and I'm doing some of the same. Working hard at just enjoying instead of over doing! Blessings to you, Cindy

  15. You did a wonderful job, Carol! I love the ornament balls on display. I did that last year, but this year the kids wanted all of them on the tree. :)
