Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a great Monday and start to a wonderful new week! Chemo Monday started quite early with labs at 7am, a meeting with my oncologist at 8am, and Chemo #3 started at 9am. Once again, my lab numbers were all well within the normal range which keeps surprising everyone. My doctor said she can already feel a drop in the size of the breast lump, so.....YAY! I actually thought I could feel a difference but thought it might just be wishful hoping, so.....YAY!
Chemo went well, but long. I had 2 nurses today, Wendi and Gulnar (I don't know what her nationality is, but she was absolutely gorgeous). Both nurses were so kind and always asking if I needed anything.
Some of you already know, but shortly after Chemo #2, my hair started falling out like crazy. I truly looked like a victim of a nuclear holocaust! So my sweet hubby took pity on me and took the rest off. I still have my eyebrows and lashes....I guess they have more staying power than head hair. If you are thinking that I might just be brave enough to show you my hairless crown, you would be VERY wrong! I've seen some women at the Cancer Center who are "rockin" the bald head and look amazing. I am not one of those!
Chemo #3
I was really tired (I woke up at 4am this morning.....don't ask, I don't know why), so after they got the drugs flowing and gave me warm blankets, I actually fell asleep!
It's a MIRACLE, I have hair again!
The wig is actually pretty cute, but it's still too warm here for it to be very comfy for all-day wear.
Thought you would want to see the back, too! The color is quite close to my last salon hair color (whatever color combo formula that was....lol)!
I continue to be amazed and humbled by the outpouring of sweet comments, prayers, and even some sweet gifts from some very kind and generous women. I'll be sharing more about that in a later post. They know who they are and how much I adore them for their kindnesses.
I'm happy that Chemo#3 is done, and I only have 13 more to go!
Awesome! Of course your look fabulous with your forever smile! Love your new hairstyle!
ReplyDeleteKeep rocking it...our prayers are with you!!
Carol, you are looking fabulous with your "new" hair! What good news that the doc had for you! I have been taking methotrexate for an auto-immune eye problem, and they told me that I may lose some of my hair. But so far, so good.
ReplyDeleteIt's really cute! I have a friend who went through chemo and even now that she has all her hair back, she loved the wig so much she still sports it. It is cute as cute can be on you Carol! I love seeing your updates. xo
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty hair, looks so cute. Still praying!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are ill. Prayers. xoxo And you look fabulous in your new wig.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your wonderful updates, and honestly, the wig looks amazing on you. It's only supposed to be in the 90's, so you may be more comfortable in this "cool" weather. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you look beautiful. Trying on different wigs can be somewhat uplifting I think---I wonder what I'd look like as a brunette or redhead.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the nurses when my guy had chemo---they were so warm and lively and giving to both of us during those long hours. They are truly angels.
Love to you,
Jane x
Carol, you look gorgeous and I am so glad to hear that you continue to do so well and the treatment is working!! xo
ReplyDeleteHello my friend,
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous! So glad you were able to get some sleep in the end. You are doing so well, sweetie! Thanks for the wonderful update!
xx

You look beautiful, Carol! I'm glad it's going well for you. You'll be done with all this before you know it. That's great that you got in a little nap too. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your treatments are working...YAY!! I love your new hair Carol! Cute style and great color too...very natural looking. Your positve outlook just blesses my heart. Take good care :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're feeling ok & all your numbers are good. I would've never known that was a wig! You look great! I would be like you & not want anyone to see me bald either. Awesome news that the lump is getting smaller. That's one "good" thing about having a lump like that - you can actually tell if the chemo is working. Sending lots of prayers!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful, and we would never know what you are going thru if you hadn't told us, course,
we are very glad you told us so we can pray for you and say Hi now and again. Love your new
hair do, it looks so cute on you, but imagine that could be warmish especially if yalls temps are
like ours here in florida. Nice you can sleep thru the chemo..........and so happy to hear that lump
is getting smaller already, that is great news.
You take care sweetie, know you are in my prayers, especially during the night, any time I wake
up I think about you and say a few prayers.
Blessings, Nellie
Totally love the cute wig and it does resemble your 'natural' hair! So happy that #3 is done and you are still doing well, good news about the lump size! You continue to be in my prayers! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Carol,
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see you with your pretty smile and darling wig! You are beautiful and you would never know that it was a wig, it's a super cute cut too:) I am so thankful you are staying so strong.
I also had an oncology nurse whom I was not certain of her nationality. Her name was Bridgette, she took such good care of me, was so on top of everything and so kind. Makes the day so much more tolerable.
Naps are good for you and there might be times when you'll take more naps than you thought you ever could! Just go with it, listen to your body, it is working very hard right now.
Sending prayers and love,
Jemma
Hi Carol. Just popping in here for the first time to find out about your cancer and chemo. You have such a wonderful positive attitude. Do take care of yourself, take those naps and eat some good food if you can. You look amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear your numbers are good and that you are keeping positive. Love the "new" hair! The style looks very cute on you.
ReplyDeleteTake care

I'm happy to report to you that you look fabulous! I'm happy to hear that things are going well for you, considering everything. FYI, you had asked about my parents. They literally moved, as in full-time living to AZ when my father retired.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear you are doing well and your numbers are good! How awesome that the tumor is already shrinking. You look fabulous and the new "do" is just perfect! Have a lovely rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteI love your updates! So glad you are doing ok. Love, love your "new hair". What a cute style! xxx Maria
ReplyDeleteCarol, my heart aches while reading this and your previous posts! I had no idea you're fighting this battle. At the same time I'm so happy about the good news, you look beautiful no matter what!
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping you in my thoughts.
xoxo,
Cristina
Carol
ReplyDeleteYour wig looks so natural, I would have thought it was real hair!
I will be praying for you; for strength and healing.
Carol, I just wanted to give you a heads up...my flowers came from Michael's, not real but very real looking aren't they!
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed to be such an upbeat and positive person...I'm sure this will help you a lot having to go through this bump in the road. You look beautiful!!! I have a friend who went through chemo and rocked the bald head! She actually look pretty good...she has sass!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear about the numbers! I am also so impressed with your positive attitude - and you look cute in the new hair!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Shelley
Hi Carol, I am so sorry you are going through this! It does take it's toll. You looks so cute in your new look! Congrats on good numbers. I never had the courage to walk around bold. I know the ins and outs of cancer, as I have had it three times. Hang in there. thank you for your sweet visit. Yes, lock those drunk drivers up and keep them there. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI have thought about you daily, and prayed for you also. Your as beautiful as ever, and I do not see that changing. I have looked everywhere, but cannot find what I am looking for...my stepmom said that when she was diagnosed the first time around, and lost her hair, that someone bought and gave her 2 terry cloth type turbans. She said they weren't inexpensive thin ones, and that her scalp was sore, and they felt so good to wear. Anyhoo, I have been looking for you and her some (she has been diagnosed with bone cancer this time around) so when I find a suitable one, or two, I will let you know so that I can get your mailing address. Until then, know that your thought of often.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Yes, that wig is cute!!!! Love the soft bump! Your one of the prettiest cancer patients I have ever seen!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, your new wig looks real... thought it was your own hair before I started reading! You are doing so well with this C... think of you and pray for you every night!
ReplyDeleteRondell♥
I guess I am kinda working backwards on my emails as I have read what #3 was all about but I have to say you look fabulous in that wig. You wouldn't know it wasn't your real hair Carol. Hope you are kicking #3's butt. Stay strong! xoxo
ReplyDeleteCarol, thank you for stopping by my blog, which has led me back to you again. Your DR feature was fab, and I am happy for every bit of gumption you have during this treatment phase you're going through. One of my (six) sisters had a brush with breast cancer this year (stage 1) - lumpectomies, radiation and now oral drugs - and one thing I've learned by hers and a couple other friends' situations is that each person's path to wellness is different. I sincerely hope yours is one filled with light, love and power.
