Hey everyone! Well, I think it's time to share with you the rest of the family room. I love that this room is so open to the kitchen and breakfast room. It is truly where we gather -- just The Man and I each evening to watch our favorite TV shows or a movie, & also where the grandchildren play when they come for a visit. We have 3 large baskets in the lower part of the entertainment center that are filled with goodies to keep them entertained.
This is what I can see from the kitchen when I'm using the island for meal prep. I just love seeing the reflections in the mirror of the decorations on top of the kitchen cabinets.
Of course, you've all seen this many times, but I just love looking at this while we are watching
TV at night -- makes me feel all warm and cozy inside!
This bar game table was an impulse buy several years ago for our sunroom in our last home. It was great in that space, but I like it even better here. Such a fun place for the Grands to color or to work on a jigsaw puzzle.
These were very popular a few years ago and I always wanted to put one
together -- a Blooming Lamp!
I had everything that I needed for this look. Simply lined this old tin with a piece of burlap, placed my small lamp in the middle, added some styrofoam pieces to make it stable & filled in with florals & pumpkins. It gives off such a cheerful "Fall" glow in the evenings.
Sorry, I forgot to switch off the flash -- hope you didn't go blind! This deep, cavernous space (remember those behemoth TVs?) will be going bye-bye sooner rather than later, I hope!
It has provided a great place to do vignettes -- mainly vignettes to hide all the cords & huge outlet
in the back wall.
Photos of The Man and I, then and now!
I had some fun "glamming" up some old pumpkins.
This little footstool had been my sweet MIL's. I have a photo of my daughter when she was a year old, sitting on this at my MIL's home -- 40+ years ago. The tapestry fabric is still in pristine condition, & I couldn't bring myself to change it. But......
To give it a bit of a different look, I simple made a drop cloth slipcover. I think it's
pretty cute!
If you turn around and face the kitchen-breakfast area, this small wall seemed like a perfect spot for my small baker's rack (garage sale find).
Sometimes I use it as a mini-bar; but this time around, I'm using it for my small collection of
Fall dishes.
This display adds a great pop of color and makes these dishes nice and handy -- I love
using them this time of year.
Just for grins, I thought I'd share a collage of my family room from last year. I like to change things up!

Carol, It looks like you're ready for Fall. The blooming lamp is a great idea., and the slip covered foot stool is so cute. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletethat blooming lamp is totally gorgeous Carol! If you have the time check out my Halloween Dining which I posted just now. If your 'Fall crazee' then you'll see 'Halloween crazee' in me! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteYour Fallen home looks so pretty! I love all your decor and warm touches. Enjoy the season!
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall! I love all your fall touches and especially the plates on the rack! I also really like the lamp in the tin bucket. I first thought it was a basket and was like, "OH, I've never seen a basket lamp before, cute!" I am so out of the loop I had no idea this was an old idea, LOL! But, I do love it and yours is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your wonderful Fall decor. Everything looks so pretty and that lamp is fabulous. Thanks for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love all your fall touches! That was a great idea to make a drop cloth slipcover for the footstool. Love your bakers rack too with all your fall dishes. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cozy spot to spend time with your family. I love how you have it all festive for fall, especially your mantel!! And I love that lamp!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
You always have everything so cozy looking, Carol, and that is my absolute favorite style. How could someone not feel welcome here?
ReplyDeleteThis looks so nice! Love your mantle!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Carol! You've got some great decorations. I like how you dealt with the space where those big ole televisions used to go. : ) They can become nice decorating niches. Love how you just made a cover for that little footstool. Something with memories like that you might not want to give a permanent makeover to and this slipcover is a great solution.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to The Creative Home & Garden hop! : )
You've decorated so prettily for autumn, Carol. I love your "bar" or is a game table? Or maybe a drinking game table???? ;P
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThose fall colors are gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
All of your decorations are so pretty! I hope to get up a fall tree this year... we'll see ;-)
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the entire room--looks great! I also like the fall dishes--I've been seeing so many cute ones around the stores, and someday, I'm going to break down and buy a couple. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Dee!
DeleteCarol, I just love your room...so cozy and charming! I am in love with your game table! I have always wanted one, but our family room is just too tiny!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim! I'm getting ready to set up a big Christmas puzzle!
