Hey everyone! I have been loving all of the Fall posts that are happening already. For those of us who live in the Arizona desert, you have to create your own Fall or "Faux Fall," as I've been calling it. It has been really hot here, so nothing has gone outside on my front porch yet, but there is plenty of Fall color happening inside our home. I've decided that this time around, I will be doing shorter posts and sharing just one or two rooms at a time -- I tend to get a bit "photo-heavy," so I'm just looking out for y'all.....heehee. This year I've TRIED to take a "less is more" style of decorating for this beautiful season. Some of you will laugh & say, "Sure you are, Carol," but what you will see is me truly TRYING to be more conservative. Yes, really! Anyway, I'm TRYING to let most of the photos speak for themselves and not be so chatty. Yes, really! Anyhoo, welcome to my foyer and sitting room all dressed in their "Faux Fallness!"
I love that this is what you see when you enter our home. Plus, I pass through this area like a gazillion times a day, and it always makes me smile.
Love lamplight and candles and the play of light and shadows on the walls & ceiling.
When you enter our home, this is what you see immediately to the right.
I enjoy changing this area quite often, and it always gets a special "seasonal" look. I hope it
makes all who enter feel immediately welcome.
One of my new Fall projects for this year is this brown coffee filter wreath -- I love how it turned out!
This entertainment center was originally purchased at the same time as the dining room furniture & the coffee table that is also here in the sitting room. All of the pieces are pine and were originally dark-stained like the dining room furniture. We had this piece & the coffee table stripped and lightened when we first moved to Scottsdale, AZ and really wanted to do the same thing with the dining room furniture, but that was just not in the budget. Now I'm really glad we didn't do the rest of the furniture -- I prefer a more eclectic-look.
Anything under a cloche, right? Here I placed my old ceramic squashy-looking thing on one of my wicker placemats & dropped a leafy wreath (have had for several years) over the top -- easy peasy!
The tri-fold fireplace screen has been around for several years but seems to be a perfect backdrop in this location.
The Man built this bookcase many years ago, stained it to match the dark stain of the dining room furniture, and then agreed to paint it this sage green a few years ago. Now I'm thinking it may undergo another paint change.....hmmm -- what color do I want?
I try to keep the decor items to a minimum, because we do use the bookshelves for BOOKS!
Ceramic pumpkin on a bird nest inside a bird cage with orange lights -- what's not to like?
I was so excited to read that the trends this Fall are for bold, rich colors & colorful metals!
Whew......I'm covered!
Here on the coffee table, I used a quilted wallhanging that I made several years ago for a colorful anchor. The large pumpkin use to be sage green, but I gave it and the items on the tray some chalk paint luv. I've painted several things lately and will share in an upcoming post. Do you see Abby's little hiney? She thinks I can't see her!
I'm really into contrasts this year and truly like how both the creamy-colored pieces and the bold colors of the quilt enhance each other.
I made these two pillows last year, using some fabric sample books that I got for FREE! I just picked out the fabrics that I liked and put them together almost like a jigsaw puzzle. I really love how they turned out and looked forward to bringing them into the sitting room again this year.
I've been known to blog here in this cozy little spot. I've also been known to have a cat-nap!
Speaking of cats............

Well, so much for fewer pics and less chit-chat! I JUST CANNOT HELP MYSELF! Anyway, if you stuck it out for this entire post, I bow to your stamina, and I thank you so much for the visit!

My Journey Back for Fabulous Fall Party
It all looks great, Carol! Very festively fallish, I think. I don't know if I've ever seen a coffee filter wreath before, it looks really interesting. Coffee filters are so useful. I keep some in my stamping supplies to blot up excess ink. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it all! I really love how the lamps and candle light create such cozy, warm ambiance in a room. You have obviously established this. Love the new coffee filter wreath also...great job! It is all faux here, too, Carol. They have been talking about our "cold front" that we are having here, lol, it is only mid ninties with the cold front, and the humidity pushing the temps up to near 100 degrees. Yes, cold front, lol. So I don't have any outside decor going up right now either. I have all of the shades/drapes closed mostly to help keep the house cooler, but lamps on with the fall smell wax melts going. A girl can pretend, can't she?? Have a great day!
ReplyDeletePhoto-heavy or not, I enjoy it all the same Carol! Your seasonal decorations and vignettes are just pure inspiration to us all!
ReplyDeleteI love it when you have a ton of photos! Great fall decor! I'm really loving that coffee filter wreath. I need to try one of those soon. You have the cutest little photo bomber too! :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at your photos! Your home looks so pretty all decked out for fall.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your coffee filter wreath... great job.
Carol, your Fall touches are lovely. Love your entry table. Anyone would feel welcomed by that fall beauty! We're supposed to drop to the 70's by Thursday. So, it will actually feel like Fall.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteYour house look so festive, love your entry table especially. Everything looks so pretty. It is hard not to use stuff when you have it.........I have accumulated so much over the years that I really like and I want to use it since I only get to use it once a year............and I probably over due it too, but hey, as long as we like it...........who cares!! I am not politically or decoratingly correct!! lol
Enjoy your beautiful home. I am about to finish my decorating and we are so enjoying the new
look. I am thrilled every year when I get my pumpkins out.......I just love pumpkins for some reason, and it is sorta like visiting an old friend when I take them out!! lol
Have a Great Fall Yall,
Blessings, Nellie
