My Sweet Valentine!

Hey everyone!  Happy Monday to ya'll!  I hope everyone had a great weekend and persevered through whatever kind of weather Dear Mother Nature presented you with.  Our "gift" was RAIN -- like bucketsful!  Not what we are used to, but our January weather has been everything except the norm.  Oh well, it is what it is, right?

I've been working on some sewing projects this past week.  Some were new ideas and others were from my "some day" stash.  Do ya'll have "some day" projects?  I much prefer to label them this way rather than the "stuff I haven't gotten 'round to yet."  LOL!  Anyway, just thought I'd share some of what I've gotten completed.  This is all happening in our breakfast room.

This is what our built-in buffet looked like in my last post.

And this is what it looks like now.
I was totally inspired by Jane at Cottage at the Crossroads for her adorable fabric hearts!  Jane had her sweet little hearts displayed in a lovely dough bowl, but my dough bowl is otherwise occupied in another vignette; but I had this cute little wire basket that my lamp fit into perfectly, so
this is what I used.

I simply stitched up a bunch at the sewing machine, leaving a small area for stuffing, and then finished them during some TV time.

I'm already thinking about making some simple squares out of some spring-like fabric to add to this same little basket for an Easter-Spring look.

It was fun going through my fabric scraps to make the hearts, and then finding one of my "some day" projects -- Valentine napkins that were already cut!  Stitch, press, DONE!

I bought a couple of drop cloths awhile back and whipped up this cute little tablecloth.

You can call me lazy or brilliantly clever, but when I cut out my cloth, I saved all the pre-hemmed edges of the drop cloth and used them for the hem on the ruffle.  Saved me a whole lot of extra ironing and sewing!

Simple, simple centerpiece using a silver charger, a red candle from Christmas, a little heart-shaped bottle from the $Store last year, a faux daisy from my my stash, and my red Fiesta salt & pepper.

Then I decided to create a quick Valentine's Day Tablescape for Two!
Created with things I already had.  I'm smiling -- this makes me happy!

Placemats and napkins are Waverly from Tuesday Morning several years ago.

Chalkboard chargers are ones I made before Christmas.  Flatware is from pre-Christmas sale
at World Market.

Bird plates are from Pier 1 a few years ago, and the dinner plates are my Fiestas.

Simply tied a little heart ornament around the napkin.

Added one of my little cloth hearts to the wine glass since it's just a tad bit early for me to
actually indulge!

Since we will probably be "eating in" for Valentine's Day, I think this tablescape will be quite nice!

Whew....... that was a lot of pictures and you are probably exhausted by now, so
how about a cup of coffee?  Right now, Red Velvet Cake is brewing!

Well, I'm feeling refreshed and energized now, how about you?  Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember you are always welcome here!

  1. Instead of squares for spring/Easter, how about ovals, to resemble eggs? Just a thought.

Your decor is beautiful! Maybe I should get on the bandwagon and stitch up some fabric hearts.
