Hey everyone! I know some of you are still experiencing cold, wintery weather; but around here, Spring is definitely abounding. I've made a few changes in the foyer and sitting-dining room and thought I'd share them with you. Grab a beverage and let's get started!
Y'all already know how much I love decorating my old Singer turned foyer table.
You can see that transformation HERE.
I just love adding a bit of burlap here and there.
My cute little bunny flower pot hopped over from Good Will several years ago and
has never left!
I've been trying to make these bookshelves more "intentionally" for books and less about
the chotskies.
I don't buy old books just for the sake of having the bookshelves filled with tomes to impress anyone.
The books I have are ones that hold meaning for us, or ones that we've enjoyed
reading over the years.
There are books of travel, decorating, self-improvement, school yearbooks, a few old university
texts, and even some favorite paperbacks.
All are meaningful to us.
Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much
I've added a few new pillows in this room. My tendency is to have lots & lots of pillows, but I'm finding that makes guests very uncomfortable. Even when you tell them to just toss them on the floor, they really do not like to do that; so I am scaling back to make sitting down a lot more pleasant.
Thanks to a little "heads up" from Marty at A Stroll Thru Life, I was able to get some
great pillow covers at Hob Lob. They are very nicely made, too, and even have zippers! I have replaced most of my pillow forms with feather ones from IKEA -- feather forms are just
so much for comfy than the regular poly ones.
I love the little touch of turquoise on this one!
Are you seeing a bit of a "bird trend" going on?
I've tried to keep the color palette very neutral and earthy, but still light with pops of green.
My cozy spot!
I decided to keep the large lanterns on top of the china hutch & just switched out the red candles that I had for Christmas to some cream ones -- automatic, of course! I like my old brass-colored angel tucked in behind a dough bowl filled with greenery.
Soft green and white silk hydrangeas make a nice centerpiece........
Flanked by large hurricanes filled with book page scrolls and some greenery. Automatic candles, too!
Book page bundles and glass orbs in a crystal pedestal bowl.
Is she cute or what? She hopped right into my cart at Hob Lob last week!
I love this little nesting bunny family that I have had for fifteen years or so.
I added a little glass bird to a small basket & popped it inside this sweet cupcake holder.
I like adding simple little extras to the hutch that don't take away from the beauty
of my late MIL's china.
I made THIS BOOK PAGE WREATH a couple of years ago. I really like it as the base for my very old cake pedestal topped with a cloche -- all natural goodies inside! I really like it on my coffee table.
"Our Travels" album is a nice conversation item to have on the coffee table and also fun for
The Man and I to browse through over a glass of wine.
That's it for the tour. This is the area that we love to share with family and friends. It's so cozy and comfy to sit here, sipping wine and just having nice conversation. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I've enjoyed sharing it with all of you! You are always welcome in our home.

Cindy
So many great pieces Carol. I really like your bird pillows! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteOf all the seasons I love to decorate best for spring as it is such a welcome from winter, especially winters that have overstayed their visits!
ReplyDeleteSo many things caught my eye here, Carol: the Scrabble welcome sign, the bird motif, the message about life, and the fact that you are trying to 'decorate' your bookshelves with books that have meaning to you and your family, and not because their covers complement your colour scheme!
Have a wonderful day!
Poppy
Very nice! We had spring weather over the weekend but it's supposed to be back in the 30's tomorrow. So over it!
ReplyDeleteThe snow has been rapidly melting here and the warmth of the sun is a refreshing change to the stinging bite of the cold! Love your spring decor and I am definitely looking forward to starting my own. I love the layers on your sewing machine! So pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that bunny with hydrangea flowers?
ReplyDeleteI adore all the touches of flora and fauna. Your singer table transformation is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day weekend!
